Privacy Policy

Daily Poetry ("we", "us") is a reading app that delivers one hand-picked, public-domain poem each day, with a short analysis. We built it to be quiet and private: the core reading experience needs no account, and we collect only what is necessary to run the service. This policy explains what we collect, why, how it is shared, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted.
Information we collect
- No account required. Reading the daily poem does not require you to create an account or give us your name, email, or any profile information.
- Preferences stored on your device. Your reading settings — language, font size, theme, and similar choices — are stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
- Poem ratings. If you rate a poem, the star rating is sent to our server and stored anonymously — with no name, account, device identifier, or IP address attached. We use ratings only in aggregate to help us curate the catalogue; they do not personalize what you are shown.
- Notifications (optional). If you turn on the daily-poem reminder, it is scheduled locally on your device by iOS. It uses no push token and no remote push service, and no notification data leaves your device. You can turn it off at any time in your device settings.
- Diagnostics. We may collect basic, aggregated technical data — such as app version, device type, and crash reports — to keep the app reliable. Where your platform (Apple) offers a choice, this is subject to your device's app-analytics setting.
- Server logs. The app connects to our backend to fetch each day's poem and to submit a rating, and — like any internet request — these carry your device's IP address to our hosting provider, which records standard server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for security and reliability. The same applies when you visit our website, which additionally loads fonts from Google Fonts; Google receives your IP address as part of serving those fonts.
We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive personal information. We do not collect the contents of anything you write outside the app.
How we use information
- To deliver the daily poem and its analysis, and to remember your reading preferences on your device.
- To send the daily-poem notification, if you have enabled it.
- To keep the app and website working, secure, and reliable, and to fix problems.
- To understand, in aggregate, which poems resonate, so we can curate better.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We share information only with service providers that help us operate, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Hosting — our backend and website run on Railway, which processes requests and stores server logs on our behalf.
- Fonts — Google Fonts serves the typefaces used on our website.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
Data retention and deletion
Preferences held on your device remain until you clear them or uninstall the app. Server logs are kept only for a limited period for security and reliability, then discarded. Poem ratings are stored on our server without any identifier, so they cannot be linked to a person — there is nothing personally identifiable in them to trace or remove. Because the core app requires no account, we hold little to no information that identifies you. To ask what we hold about you, or to request deletion, email support@dailypoetry.co and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
Daily Poetry is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app or on this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
